The Justice and Peace Group was formed in June 2004. Scripture asks us to act with justice to love tenderly and to walk humbly with our God. We wanted to get involved because we feel that justice and peace are non-negotiable issues.

Message bodyThis group St Bridget's is dormant at the moment and hopes to resume regular meetings again soon. Our main aim is to implement CAFOD activities in our Parish whenever possible. We also attend the West London Area Justice and Peace Groups quarterly meetings.

Further information will be published in the Parish Newsletter.

About the Organisation

A worldwide organisation based on the ideals of Vatican II's Decree on the Lay Apostolate. For the spiritual formation of members through prayer and action under ecclesiastical guidance.

Reasons to join

  • do you want to learn more about the Catholic faith?
  • do you want to enrich your prayer life?
  • do you want to develop close Catholic friendships?
  • do you want to grow closer to Jesus and His Mother?

Then come as a guest to a Legion of Mary meeting! There is no obligation to join.

We hold a weekly meeting for prayer, planning and discussion in a family setting. Members then do two hours of definite work each week in pairs.

Who can belong?

The Legion of Mary is open to all Catholics who:

  • faithfully practice their religion
  • are animated by a desire to participate in the Church's apostolate through membership in the Legion
  • are prepared to fulfil each and every duty which active membership in the Legion involves

At Saint Bridget's we have twelve members and seven auxiliary members.

What we do

We were formed in 2004 and are involved in various projects in the parish such as:

  • visiting two residential homes - Charlotte House and Hatfield House
  • visiting the housebound and sick
  • visiting the local hospital

There are three Eucharistic Ministers of which two visit Charlotte House & Atfield House. Monthly Masses are also held in both residential homes.

In the future, we hope to:

  • get involved in visiting a young offenders institution
  • to do a census of the parish

All our work is carried out with the permission of the Priest in charge of the parish.

For more information, please see the parish directory to contact the Legion of Mary or see the contact information at the back of the church.

You can also visit the legion of mary website to find out more about the international organisation.
